A few weeks ago I was talking with a teacher – and she told me that she had a student whose parents didn’t want them to use a keyboard, which puzzled me.
Keyboarding is a very important skill for all of us to develop. It is how we do a large part of our writing everyday – text messages, emails, social media posts, filling out forms, etc. In fact, the Organisation for Economic and Community Development (OECD) in their International Assessment of Adult Competencies (2011) has stated that basic computer skills (keyboard and mouse skills) are crucial for participation in social and economic life in the 21st century.
After this discussion with the teacher, I made up an infographic around the importance of keyboarding – which is below. If you have any further ideas for adding to this infographic I would love to hear them!!
