Shared Reading: Book Week 2021

It’s Book Week again here in Australia – hooray!! Since I love books, I also love Book Week!!

With a lot of Australia’s population currently in lockdown, I’m sure there are parents who are celebrating that they don’t have to create book week costumes for once! And I’m equally sure that there are lots of students (and teaching staff) who are disappointed that they don’t get to celebrate Book Week with the normal costumes, parades and celebrations.

However, lockdown or not, Book Week is always an reason to celebrate the awesome, diverse and engaging world of children’s books.

Wangee Park School in Sydney, asked me to record some shared reading videos for Book Week to be used in home learning. And since I’d recorded them, and I know that lots of other students are in home learning too – I thought I’d share them with everyone. Thanks Wangee Park for the inspiration!

So, without further ado – here are two different shared readings of the same book. The book, one of my current favourites, is Outside Inside by LeUyen Pham.

Outside, Inside

In the first video, I am using a 20 cell expanded functions PODD during the interactive parts of the shared reading.

In the second video, I am using Proloquo2Go Crescendo in a 7 x 11 layout during the interactive parts of the shared reading.

And I hope you enjoy this beautiful book while celebrating Book Week wherever you are – inside, outside or around the world!

Wow, so you made an interactive PPT version of every BM pdf? What a big job. Was that developed specifically for online modelling purposes?

HI Lisa – yes. It has been very useful – and so clear for students to see the modelling.
